Please be aware of the City of Moscow’s Water Conservation Ordinance and Waste Water Resolution
Highlights from the Water Conservation Ordinance No. 2007-13:
- Watering with sprinkler systems is allowed from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. daily during the declared Outdoor Irrigation Season. The Outdoor Irrigation Season will be declared by the City Public Works Director annually.
- Outdoor irrigation shall be prohibited at all times not within the declared Outdoor Irrigation Season.
- Outdoor irrigation of impervious surfaces is prohibited.
- Most hand watering is not restricted with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
- Normal business uses are not restricted except for lawn watering.
- Event car washes are not restricted, but participants must use automatic shut-off nozzles.
- Violation of the Water Conservation Ordinance is a misdemeanor.
- A variance from the daytime watering restrictions is available for newly seeded or reseeded lawns. For more information on how to obtain a variance please contact Tom Scallorn at 883-7106.
Highlights from the Water Waste Resolution No. 2004-12
- The City encourages water users to keep plumbing and water systems in good repair.
- An escalating surcharge may be added to the water bill for significant water wasting.
- Reckless waste of water may result in temporary interruption of water service.
- In some cases, water service may be terminated if significant water waste continues.
