Chaplain Corps
The Latah-Moscow Chaplain Corps was organized to serve the Moscow Police Department and Latah County Sheriff’s Office. In 2012 it is comprised of Chaplains Jean Knierim, John Scott and Steve Szasz.
Their assistance with death notifications, suicides and hospital visits eases the officer’s burdens. All chaplains are members of the ICPC (International Conference of Police Chaplains). The ICPC offers specialized training necessary to function as a Law Enforcement Chaplain.
When we receive a call-out we know we are facing a traumatic situation with people in pain. We don’t have a magic wand to wave, but have learned that just being there with "Chaplain" insignia visible on our person helps to defuse the circumstances. We regard time spent riding along with our officers as a privilege and an honor. They are some of the finest men and women we know and we respect them for the difficult jobs they do. We are proud to be Serving Those Who Serve.
