City of Moscow Green Building Program

Green Building is a whole systems approach to the design, construction, and operation of buildings from the early stages of development through the final finishes in a home. This approach benefits both builders and homeowners by reducing resource consumption and improving livability.

The City of Moscow has a commitment to protecting the environment, improving quality of life, and promoting sustainability. In order to fulfill this commitment, the City is actively facilitating a green building program that will offer local contractors and owner/builders the option of certifying their residential projects as "Green". The certification of a project will initially be assessed using the National Association of Home Builders Green Building Checklist. In 2007 the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System for Homes, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, will also be an option for certification.

The information and the other links provided on this site, are meant to encourage the development of "green" buildings without forcing excessive costs or other burdens upon developers, building owners or occupants.

We appreciate your comments concerning this site and welcome your input concerning Green Building and sustainable construction techniques. If you know of a site that provides information that would be compatible with this site please pass it along here.
