Moscow Arts Department
Public Art
In the spring of 2004, the City of Moscow joined two other communities in the State of Idaho by passing a Public Arts Ordinance which assures that all appropriate capital improvement projects will have funds (1%) budgeted for an arts component. In 2005 a Public Arts Task Force was established under the direction of the Moscow Arts Commission. The task force includes representatives City departments including Public Works, Community Development, Parks and Recreation, various City boards and commissions and local business owners, artists and other interested citizens. The Task Force is in the process of developing a public arts plan for the City. With public art already in place at the aquatics and recreation centers and Fire Station #3, Moscow is rapidly embracing this exciting facet of the arts.
